J173 is a chair designed by furniture architect Poul M. Volther, who during his active years designed some of the most iconic furniture of the time. Volther took over the position as head of FDB Møbler’s design studio after Børge Mogensen in 1950 and, like his predecessor, was dedicated to functionalism and solid craftsmanship. The simple chair J173 is designed for everyday use and has a high level of comfort. The chair was designed as early as 1960 but not produced until 2020. Made of oak or walnut with a powder coated steel frame. Like all furniture from FDB, the chair is produced from FSC-certified wood.
