BIOGRAPHY
Olga Engel is a Russian designer who combines luxury, minimalism and functionalism through pieces full of a good mood tinged with irony. In her creations, Olga Engel always shares a personal story that fills each object as well as the space itself with a charisma and a unique charm. She pays special attention to proportions and harmony. The designer says: "I put 'beauty' and 'harmony' on an equal footing. An object can only be beautiful if it is animated by a strong idea or an emotion."
Each of Olga Engel's creations is a suspended moment of magical elegance, a sensory experience. A force that is at once curious, naïve and primitive animates his pieces. Olga Engel pays particular attention to textures. She confronts materials to release an ambiguous sensitive and emotional force. The power of wrought iron mixed with the tenderness of porcelain gives birth to pieces full of elegance. Through a very delicate work of porcelain, the designer wants to restore modernity to a material unjustly neglected, which nevertheless holds alone an expressive charm that is at once fragile, tactile and delicate.
Since her early childhood, Olga has been attracted to design. She was still in college when she created her first creation made of fabric and foam. She then proved herself as a textile designer while continuing to make her own furniture. In high school, she created a bag model distributed by a local fashion house. Olga Engel graduated from the Moscow Textile Academy, one of the best design universities in Russia. After graduating in interior design from the Details School of Design in Moscow, she decided to continue her studies at the KLC School of Design in London. She gained decisive experience during her time in the studio of the famous designer Mark Humphrey, which allowed her to develop her personal style and her own creations.
