"My work is the consequence of the sculptor that I almost am, the architect that I would have liked to be and the designer that I am not quite." This is how Eric Schmitt likes to present himself. "A piece of furniture needs to emanate from silence so that we love it for a long time," says the one who has the courage of simple forms. He manages to reconcile with astonishing dexterity two worlds whose defenders diverge not only in their tastes, but also in their philosophy: those who defend a know-how derived from tradition and those for whom design must imperatively be turned towards the future. Merging the best of the past and a future free of fashion effects, Eric Schmitt has imposed a present with peaceful forms, melted, cut or blown in solid and soft materials such as bronze, alabaster, marble and Bohemian glass, which inevitably attract caress. In his workshop are sketched, then shaped his creations which will then be entrusted to the best craftsmen, before returning for the finishes. From the collaboration of Delisle and Eric Schmitt was born a collection of lighting and tables designed in the tradition of French decorative arts.
