BIOGRAPHY
The outstanding designer's early work was in architecture. By the late 1940s he was already famous as the pioneer of prefab.

Then he turned his attention to furniture design, which he revolutionised. His designs have long been seen as icons of 1950s America, on a par with those of Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson and Isamu Noguchi.

Cherner chairs are on display in museum collections worldwide, including the Vitra Design Museum.
